Output Preview

The output preview pane is displayed in the lower left portion of the user interface (UI) when the preview/options tab is selected (and the script tab is not selected). The preview pane shows the conversion results immediately as changes are made to the setup.  This is a preview of the main output data source prior to running the conversion (see preview auto update option).

The field names from the main output dictionary are shown at the top of the output preview and the data for each field is shown below.  Scroll the preview window to the right (or left) to see all of the fields.  Fields can be adjusted for preview width without affecting the actual output dictionary field width.  Simply click on the divider between the field names and drag the field preview to the desired viewing width.  Scroll up and down to see all of the preview records.  For large files not all records will be shown in the preview as the default value is typically set to 500 records.  Adjust the Max Lines for Preview/Learning or Max Pages for Preview/Learning in the options section (lower right pane).

Change the order in the output dictionary to change the order in the preview.

Note:  If an output record contains a carriage return or line feed, only the first line of the data in that field will be shown in the preview pane, but the full data will be extracted, transformed, and loaded to the output database or output file.

All TextConverter panes are synchronized, so when you select a cell in the preview pane, you can see immediately the input and output fields employed.  Should you make any changes to the set up, these changes immediately reflect on the output value in the preview. The output preview occupies the same pane as the script editor, so you can not see the output preview while you are editing a script.  After you edit a script, click the "check syntax" button to detect any syntax errors, then click the "Preview/Options" tab to preview the results.  It is a great visualization tool for setting up new projects, as well as for making modifications to existing projects. When you are satisfied with the results shown in the preview, press the Run button (

) to start the conversion procedure, which will save the results into the output database table.
