Castle Group Management Invoice Sample
Positional detail records and tag based header fields
This sample is a great example of using positional and tag based fields together to quickly extract data from a document. Positional fields are best used for things like the quantity and price of an item. Since the quantity and price are generally located in vertical columns positional fields are very helpful beacuse you can set a template for them and those lines that fit the template would be extracted. Tag based fields are best suited for things like customer numbers and mailing addresses. This is because those types of information generally have a label. For example the label would be Customer Number: and then the number would follow. You would set Customer Number: as the tag, and then the number as the value.
After loading the file, it is easiest to set up the positional templates. Simply select the first line of the desired data, right click-> Set up template from this line.
As for all the tag based information, these will all be in the header level of templates, so you need to add an upper level template.
Then you can select the desired tag, such as Customer #.
This will select a default value, which may not be correct. Choose the desired value, right click-> Set Value For -> Customer #.
Repeat this process for all of your desired tag-based fields
